A Letter from our Membership Committee

Thank you for your interest in the Chemical Packaging Committee (CPC) of IoPP.

CPC is a technical committee of the Institute of Packaging Professionals. CPC consists of over 50 member companies from the Chemical Industry. Each company is engaged in the manufacture, packaging, and distribution of chemicals.

The Mission of the CPC is:

The Chemical Packaging Committee provides a leadership forum for a broad and diverse representation of the Chemical Industry and provides professional leadership, addresses packaging issues and interprets educates and comments on
Packaging Regulations.

The Vision of the CPC is:

  • Pro-actively participate in the regulation formulation on local, national and global levels.

  • Timely positioned papers are developed and distributed to CPC members and others.
  • We are the recognized leader and resource on non-bulk and intermediate bulk chemical packaging technology, expertise and issues
  • Committee operation and structure responds to trends in the industry

Subcommittee Meetings

We accomplish our objectives by requesting that all members become active on at least one of three currently established working subcommittees. They are:

1. Drum, Pail & Rigid Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) Subcommittee
2. Bag, Box, and Bottle Subcommittee
3. Regulations & Legislation Subcommitee

Subcommittee meetings typically consist of one and one-half days of technical sessions. The meetings are normally held in February , May and September/October in a business casual atmosphere. Subcommittees have sufficient time at the meetings to conduct their work projects.

Full Committee Meetings

Full Committee and subcommittee meetings are held twice a year, in the Spring and Fall. These meetings typically consist of two half-day sessions where subcommittee reports are presented. A packaging related facility tour or training may be offered with the meeting. Meetings are normally held in May and September/October. Tours and training are based on the anticipated benefit to be derived by a majority of the CPC membership.

Supplier Group

There is a Supplier group associated with the CPC. The supplier group attends the two open sessions of the Full Committee meetings. The supplier group generally holds evening receptions at the Full Committee meetings. This is a great opportunity to socialize and build strong relationships with your peers.

Fees and costs

There are no membership dues for the CPC. There is a meeting registration fee between $175 and $275 per person attending the CPC meeting, which covers the costs of the meeting. Every effort is made to keep hotel accommodations as economical as possible.

The Chemical Packaging Committee welcomes your interest in our committees. If the objectives of the CPC meet your needs and if your company is engaged in the manufacture and packaging of chemicals, we welcome your participation. To request membership in CPC, complete the Membership Application Form linked to the IoPP- CPC web site at (list the link). Upon receiving a completed application, the Membership Committee will present your application to the CPC full membership for approval at the next Full Committee meeting.

The CPC By-laws require all CPC members join the Institute of Packaging Professionals as an individual member or Corporate membership, within one year of joining the Committee. The CPC by-laws for maintaining membership (Article III, Paragraph 4) requires… "Attendance at one of two consecutive regular meetings, and active participation in the work of a subcommittee".
