A tour and a meet and greet of the students of the Indiana State University Packaging Engineering Technology Program took place on October 9. The meeting was led by the students. There were several alumni of the Indiana State Packaging Program present. We shared experiences with the students along with the students sharing their packaging learning experience and their goals at graduation. We then toured the facilities and closed with dinner at a local restaurant. During dinner, the interaction with the students continued. One student is quoted as saying that they “….learned more from the professionals this evening than all the conferences and trade shows they attended put together.”
We as professionals DO make an impact on these students. Please plan on joining us next October.
Here is a way to help our ISU students as well as your company. If you have a need for an intern or would like to offer a valuable intern experience for our ISU Packaging Engineering Technology students, please contact Dr. Schafer at ISU Marion.Schafer@indstate.edu.
Who knows, it may be a great investment in a new hire for your company.

If you have been on one our tours or went to the golf outing, you know what a good time we have.
Want to help in making the fun? Then you may want to consider how you can get more involved.
We have a few openings that need to be filled. Fun opportunities and friendship-building experiences await you,
Here is a list of CIC’s outstanding offices committees and what is involved with each:
Treasurer; Our last treasurer did such a good job she got a new job opportunity in a warmer climate. Seriously though, being responsible for the money of a group can only help your resume. We don’t write many checks and is a relatively easy way to be involved. Let is talk to you about it.
Program; Help organize and plan meetings and tours. This is the fun social activity that is the heart of our networking activities. Help is always needed.
Fundraising; CIC’s main fundraiser is the golf outing. What a blast we had at the last one! Great fun outside and helps raise money for scholarships for our students at Indiana State.
Membership; Attracting and recruiting members is also another way to expand your network connections. Folks you associate with in your job usually folks you would like to associate with outside of work.
Education / Certification; If learning more about packaging and/or helping others learn is more to your interest, then this could be your niche. Helping fellow members obtain their Certifications as Packaging Technicians or Packaging Professionals is rewarding and a great service.
Chapter of the Year; Basically a recordkeeping and reporting function. Keep track of our goings on and report to national once a year. Easy and could bring recognition to CIC just for telling our story of what we do.
Call myself or any other officer if you have any questions or, wish to get started.
