Just in time for Valentine's Day shopping! We will experience candy making from start to finish in the 152,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art candy factory. Opened in May 1995, it is conveniently located off I-270 in west Columbus, Ohio.
Observe nine lines producing 30,000 pounds of chocolates per shift from a glass enclosed suspended "Cat-Walk". Experienced tour guides explain each process step-by-step from kitchen to the final packaging. View interesting sights such as huge copper kettles where the centers are created and unique silver-wrapped pipes that carry liquid chocolate throughout the factory. The tour finishes in a beautiful 2,500 square-foot retail shoppe.
After the tour, our group will meet at Lucky's Grille.
The cost for the tour and happy hour is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Central Ohio IoPP will provide appetizers and a first round of drinks for attendees.

Brothers Drake Meadery is an urban producer of wines made from honey. Sourced from local wildflower honey and only sold in the Greater Columbus area, their product is not only a delicious modern take on an ancient tradition, it’s a building block in strengthening our local economy.
We will be doing a 1/2 hour tour where they do their producing, bottling and labeling. All tours include a flight of their wines, so come thirsty. If you are not ready to leave after the tour, Brothers Drake Meadery has a band starting at 8pm. They also have a food truck onsite to help with any food cravings you might have.
Tours start at 7pm

I am very proud to announce that at last week's IoPP Leadership Conference in Chicago, our Chapter won a 2012 Chapter of Excellence Award! This is the first time since 2008 that our club has been recognized by the National office for Excellence. I want to thank all of you that have been actively involved in the meetings and tours of 2012. I'd also like to ask those who have not been actively participating to get back involved with our Chapter. We truly try to cater our content to help you as an individual network and grow professionally.
Our Board of Directors is excited about our upcoming Fall 2013 schedule that we recently have been working on finalizing. September will kick off the fun with an IoPP Trivia Night (details to follow). I'm sure that this will be a fun experience with prizes and big brain bragging rights on the line.
We are also looking at finalizing other great meetings and tours which will be announced once they are finalized.
One key takeaway from last week's Leadership Conference that I heard over and over from multiple people, is that people get much more out of IoPP than the efforts that they put in.
If you are looking for a value-add activity in your life, I encourage you to get out and get more involved with our club. I'm looking for dedicated people to help bolster our Board of Directors and help guide out Chapter into the future. If you are interested in becoming more involved, let me know!
