Dr. Michael Okoroafor - H.J. Heinz Company - Vice President, Global Packaging R&D/Innovation
Dr. Michael Okoroafor is currently the Vice President, Global Packaging R&D/Innovation and a member of the Global R&D Council at H.J. Heinz Company. In this role, he is responsible for providing strategic direction for the packaging organization and driving overall packaging innovation goals. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the H. J. Heinz Foundation. Dr. Okoroafor joined Heinz in 2008 from the Coca-Cola Company, where he held several key global leadership roles, including Global Director, External Technology Acquisition responsible for Open Innovation strategies & execution; and Director, Global Packaging R&D responsible for Packaging Technologies for Foodservice, Design & Decoration and Packaging Lab Services. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) and Society of Plastics Engineers. He serves on the Board of Directors of American Heart Association, Chemical & Engineering News, Packaging Digest and Michigan State University School of Packaging.
Lisa McTigue Pierce - Packaging Digest magazine - Executive Editor
Lisa McTigue Pierce joined UBM Canon as Editor of Packaging Digest magazine in 2009 and was promoted to Executive Editor in 2012. She has been a packaging-media journalist since 1982, having held various editorial management positions with Food & Drug Packaging (renamed Food & Beverage Packaging in 2008), Flexible Packaging and Packaging (previously Package Engineering). Over the years, Pierce has stayed intimately involved and active in the industry—as a featured speaker, competition judge and member of several packaging-related trade associations, including the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) and Flexible Packaging Association.
Stanley Hainsworth - Tether - Chairman, Chief Creative Officer
Stanley Hainsworth is Chairman, Chief Creative Officer at Tether. Tether is a group of friends who are passionate about one thing: telling stories that matter. Tether was born from the desire to work on brands that share the desire to create passionate, emotional connections with customers. Everything that our team of visionaries, strategists, designers and implementers create tethers back to the core of the brands we partner with. Previous to founding Tether, Stanley was VP Global Creative of Starbucks where he oversaw all creative aspects of Starbucks - new products, packaging systems, seasonal promotions, brand campaigns, advertising and collateral materials. Stanley spent twelve years at Nike as a Creative Director working on everything from product launches to Niketowns to the Olympics. After Nike, he moved to Denmark to join the Lego Company as their Global Creative Director. There he directed a total visual overhaul of the Lego brand from top to bottom, including packaging, the web, retail and brand stores. Stanley is a national board member of AIGA, a featured speaker on Creativity worldwide and the recipient of awards from ID Magazine, Communication Arts, The Library of Congress, Graphis, Type Directors Club, HOW International, HOW Regional, NW Design Awards, PRINT International, AIGA National, AIGA Regional, Rosie’s, POP Times, and Communication Arts Illustration, Retail Interiors (Best International Store and Best Retail Theater) and MAPIC (Best Retail Store).
Jan Schüler - Drink Works USA - Business Director Americas
Jan Schüler runs Drink Works USA from their NYC office. He works with North American clients on strategy, innovation, packaging design, product dispense & serve solutions. He has previously worked at Kellogg, Kraft Foods, Mintel and other Brand Design and Innovation Consultancies in London. Jan's focus is primarily in innovation for soft drinks, beer, wine & spirit industries but gains inspiration from all consumer goods categories. Drink Works are a strategy, innovation and design specialists working with clients and brands across the drinks industry. Established in 1999, and based in London, with a direct presence in NYC and Hamburg, Drink Works operates globally, bringing successful brand developments to market, by mixing category understanding with insight, creativity and drinks design expertise. His Presentation "Packaging Trends" will show a number of examples that will demonstrate consumer connection and trends in packaging.
