A Letter from our Membership Committee

On behalf of the Membership Committee, I am pleased to provide this letter that details below the background and activities of the Chemical Packaging Committee (CPC) of IoPP and encourage you to strongly consider membership in the CPC!

CPC is a technical committee of the Institute of Packaging Professionals.  CPC consists of IoPP members with an interest in chemical packaging.  Each member is engaged in providing services for, or the direct manufacture, packaging, and distribution of chemicals.

The Mission of the CPC is:

The Chemical Packaging Committee provides a leadership forum for a broad and diverse representation of the Chemical Industry and provides professional leadership, addresses packaging issues and interprets, educates and comments on Packaging Regulations.

The Vision of the CPC is:

  • PRO-ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE REGULATION FORMULATION ON LOCAL, NATIONAL AND GLOBAL LEVELS.
  • PACKAGING TECHNOLOGY AND “ISSUE” DATA IS READILY ACCESSIBLE TO CPC MEMBERS.
  • TIMELY POSITION PAPERS ARE DEVELOPED AND DISTRIBUTED TO CPC MEMBERS AND OTHERS.
  • WE ARE THE RECOGNIZED LEADER AND RESOURCE ON NON-BULK AND INTERMEDIATE BULK CHEMICAL PACKAGING TECHNOLOGY, EXPERTISE AND ISSUES.
  • COMMITTEE OPERATION AND STRUCTURE RESPONDS TO TRENDS IN THE INDUSTRY.

Meetings

We accomplish our objectives by requesting that all members become active on at least one of three currently established working subcommittees. They are:

  • Drum, Pail & Rigid Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) Subcommittee
  • Bag, Box, & Bottle Subcommittee
  • Regulations & Legislation Subcommittee

CPC meetings typically consist of two days of technical sessions.  The meetings are held three times per year in a business casual atmosphere, including one meeting in Washington, D.C. to foster participation by Federal regulators.

A packaging related facility tour or training may be offered with the meeting. The selection of criteria for tours and training is based on the anticipated benefit to be derived by a majority of the CPC membership.

Dues and Registration Fees:

There are no annual membership dues for the CPC; however committee members must have a valid membership in the IoPP in order to participate.  A registration fee is charged for each meeting to cover the estimated costs associated with that meeting. Every effort is made to keep registration costs and hotel accommodations as economical as possible.

The CPC By-laws require all CPC participants be members in good standing of the Institute of Packaging Professionals.  The CPC by-laws for active membership (Article III, Paragraph 4) encourages the "Attendance at one of three regular meetings, and active participation in the work of a subcommittee" to maintain membership status.

The Chemical Packaging Committee welcomes your interest in our committees.  If you are interested in chemical packaging and you determine that the goals of the CPC are consistent with your needs, we welcome your participation.  To request membership in CPC, please complete the Membership Application Form linked to the IoPP- CPC web site at www.iopp.org/cpcUpon receiving a completed application, the Membership Committee will review your application and then the Membership Chairperson will contact you and provide further information on upcoming meeting locations.  If you are interested in attending one meeting of CPC first, to gauge your interest prior to joining, please contact me for approval.

Please call or e-mail me if you have any questions.

Personal regards,
