Two IoPP members inducted into PMMI Packaging Hall of Fame IoPP is proud to announce that two of its illustrious members have been inducted into the PMMI Packaging Hall of Fame class of 2011: Lawrence Dull, CPP and Tom Schneider, CPP. Induction into the PMMI Packaging Hall of Fame is one of the Packaging Industry's highest honors, recognizing a lifetime of innovation and achievement. All inductees will be honored at the Packaging Hall of Fame Ceremony, taking place at Pack Expo Las Vegas on Monday, September 26 at 4:15 p.m. at the Ballroom at the Las Vegas Hilton. Chicago Chapter makes donation to IoPP Packaging Education Scholarship Fund During their Fall Chapter Kick-off Meeting on September 8, the Chicago Chapter donated $5,000 to the IoPP Packaging Education Scholarship Fund. Packaging editors and panelists to discuss industry trends in IoPP sessions at Pack Expo Packaging professionals know what’s hot now. But what does the future hold? What new trends are on the horizon that will shape tomorrow’s packages and refined approaches to developing packaging? IoPP’s Packaging Learning Center Conference at Pack Expo Las Vegas (Sept. 26-28) will tap into the expertise of some of the industry’s leading packaging magazine editors, in two different sessions. On Sept. 27, Packaging Digest Editor Director John Kalkowski and Editor Lisa Pierce, along with Pharmaceutical & Medical Packaging News Editor Daphne Allen, will lead what promises to be a lively “Meet the Press” panel discussion. They will be joined by Mike Marcinkowski, Principal Engineer, Gillette; Garry Kohl, Senior Director of Packaging Research and Development, Frito-Lay/PepsiCo; and Mark Green, Manager Packaging Equipment Engineering, Global Engineering and Supply Chain, Abbott Nutrition. And on Sept. 28, Pat Reynolds, Editor of Packaging World, will bring his seasoned insights on what the future will hold for the industry as he discusses “What’s Coming Down the Packaging Pike.” He will share his expertise on a variety of trends and technologies that packaging professionals should be watching closely, from digital printing to in-pack microwave pasteurization. WorldStar Student Awards competition is now open The World Packaging Organisation's (WPO) WorldStar Student Awards competition is for students from countries around the world to develop projects in the field of packaging design. The WorldStar Student Awards, with its wide publicity throughout WPO’s global publications, will provide an opportunity for the winners to gain professional acknowledgement and entrance into a career as a packaging professional.
