Tour of PPG Industries' Allison Park R&D Center

Thanks to everyone who was able to come and take the tour. A special thank you to Phillip Yu and Kurt Olson who allowed us access to their facility and a very special thank you to our host and tour guide Ken Niederst! Ken gave us an exceptional tour that gave us a sneak peek at many of the technologies that PPG was working on. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience and something outside of the "everyday". Thanks again to all the folks at PPG who made this happen!

What a good looking bunch!

Regional Institute of Packaging Professionals Networking Event & Brewery Tour

Location: Great Lakes Brewing Company, Cleveland, OH

The Cleveland Chapter of the Institute of Packaging Professionals hosted a Regional IoPP Networking Forum and tour of the Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLBC) in Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday, March 28, 2012.

This event was sponsored by Praxis Packaging Solutions (www.praxispackaging.com) and provided an opportunity for many of the 30 IoPP members and guests in attendance to highlight their roles and responsibilities as packaging professionals in a Networking Forum and a tour of the Great Lakes Brewing Company. Fifteen individuals, representing Sherwin Williams, SprintPak, JM Smuckers, Praxis Packaging Solutions, Planet R Creative Services, Archbold Container/Green Bay Packaging, Pearson Packaging Systems, Morrison Container Handling Solutions, Har Adhesives, Flower City Printing, IFCO Pallet Management Systems, MOCON, Inc., HoneyCell Inc., and Plymouth Foam, provided a synopsis of their background, strengths, market focus and primary roles.

The Networking Forum was followed by an extensive tour of the Great Lakes Brewing Company (www.greatlakesbrewing.com), and a tasting of two styles of beer. Some of us had more. The evening concluded with a dinner buffet in the GLBC's Rockefeller Room.

This unique and informative event was attended by IoPP members from the Western New York, Central Ohio, Cincinnati, and Cleveland chapters.
