IoPP licenses online Fundamentals of Packaging Technology course to Kenya
The Institute of Packaging Professionals-U.S. has signed an agreement with the Institute of Packaging Professionals-Kenya to license its new Fundamentals of Packaging Technology online course and make the comprehensive packaging training program available to IoPP members in Kenya, and other countries in the region. Program funding will begin immediately and will be provided by corporate sponsors to offset costs for participating Kenyan students. Among the first sponsors to contribute will be IPACK-IMA Spa. This funding will cover the program costs for the first 10 student enrollments.

IoPP webinar focused on package integrity
IoPP's next webinar, "Path to Package Integrity," presented by Oliver Stauffer, International Business Development Manager, PTI Inspection Systems, and taking place March 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. CST, will focus on understanding and defining the "Critical-to-Quality" leak size for various package and container formats, and also on how to fully understand package barrier. In addition, he will discuss what happens when a package suffers from an integrity failure.

IoPP Packaging Education Scholarship Fund submissions due March 18!
IoPP is pleased to offer five $2,500 academic scholarships for 2013-2014 to recognize exceptional college students headed for a career in packaging. One scholarship will be awarded to an international packaging student. Do you know of any students pursuing a career in packaging that would benefit from this excellent opportunity? The scholarships have been created to support packaging education and to raise awareness of packaging as a career choice. As an added bonus, the top talent identified through this program will be shared with IoPP Benefactor companies as a recruiting tool for their organizations. This could be that post-graduation foot in the door that jump-starts packaging careers! Applications are due soon - deadline for submissions is March 18.

IoPP's Packaging Machinery: Basics course starts in March
Does your job or management scope cover packaging machinery? Do you need to integrate package development with machine capabilities? IoPP Chicago Chapter to present "Packaging Light Forum" in April
The Chicago Chapter's Packaging Light Forum, taking place April 2 in Rosemont, IL, will enrich both your personal growth as well as your professional and technical knowledge.  This forum is designed to offer a brief look into a variety of industry relevant topics. The day is scheduled for 3 sessions in the morning and 3 sessions in the afternoon. Lunch will be provided. Each session is led by leaders of their particular field.

MSU's Student Packaging Jamboree taking place March 21-23
From March 21-23, Michigan State University’s School of Packaging will be hosting the 28th annual Student Packaging Jamboree.  The Jamboree will provide an opportunity for packaging students throughout the nation and Canada to unite for a weekend of networking and learning.  An anticipated 250 students will attend this three day conference that's themed: Innovation in Design and Sustainability. The conference will consist of presentations from prominent industry professionals, an opportunity to interact with industry experts through a formatted panel discussion, a showcase display of innovative packages, and a design competition that will incorporate all attending students.

March edition of IoPP's Professional Perspective focused on packaging engineers
Packaging Word's IoPP Professional Perspective for March is written by Kevin Howard, Consultant, Packnomics.
