The "virtual" presentation announcing the AmeriStar winners has resulted in higher levels of activity on the IoPP website. According to Google Analytics, since June 29 (when the winners were announced online), almost 60 percent of all website sessions have been spent viewing the AmeriStar presentations on IoPP.org. The highest viewed category video so far is beverage packaging, with the food category coming in second and then followed by drug and pharmaceutical. You can access the IoPP AmeriStar winner presentations online 24/7. Visit www.iopp.org/AmeriStar for presentations and a complete overview of the winning packages. We welcome your suggestions on how to make the virtual event even better — feel free to send your comments to info@iopp.org.

Have you ever wondered about packaging implications of key trends affecting food and other products? For example, more than 50 million Americans have arthritis. One in five Americans spends less than 15 minutes preparing dinner. And many millennials want to know more about how food is grown, and they view food not just as nutrition but also as entertainment and self-expression. Find out how to relate today's food culture to tomorrow's packaging at IoPP's upcoming, information-packed standard webinar "The Changing Face of Health & Wellness, and Implications for Packaging," taking place from online from 10 to 11 a.m. CDT on Aug. 20.

The fall session of IoPP's Packaging Machinery: Basics seminar will be Oct. 5-7 in suburban Chicago. This 2 1/2-day seminar is ideal for any whose job requires them to know about packaging machinery, and how their packaging functions on various machines, at an introductory level. It is also recommended for anyone who needs to be able to speak the language of packaging and machinery. The seminar is conducted by The Frain Group, which has hosted this IoPP event for nearly 10 years. In addition to classroom lecture, the class visits Frain's expansive machine shop floor to view machines discussed during the seminar. View the seminar outline and register for the seminar.
