Chemically-resistant film for pharma applications saves money, environment
Packaging World
Representing a collaboration between Ineos' Barex, a acrylonitrile-methyl acrylate copolymer, and Rollprint's own ClearFoil, a barrier-coated polyester, Exponent is produced by extrusion or adhesive lamination of ClearFoil to Barex. When compared to traditional foil-based high-barrier structures, Exponent's reduced number of layers and gauge is said to offer cost-savings, and create an improved environmental profile for a wide variety of pharmaceutical products.

Pharmaceutical & Medical Packaging News

While there are outstanding packages that win high-profile awards, some companies fail to recognize the importance of this factor until late in the game. In worst-case scenarios, this can impact the quality and safety of the device. More often, however, the result is financial, because companies neglect to take steps to reduce packaging costs.

Nov. 11 IoPP Standard Webinar: The Do's and Don'ts of Sterile Medical Device Packaging
IoPP
To be compliant with ISO 11607 part 2, medical device companies must have a validation program to demonstrate repeatability and reproducibility of the sealing process. As the FDA continues to regulate the processes involved in medical sterile packaging systems, the need for reducing variation on these processes becomes more critical. Presented by Charlie Rivera, CPP, Corporate Packaging Operations Manager, ConMed Corp., and taking place Nov. 11 from 2 to 3 p.m. CST, this webinar is open to Elite, Premium and Regular IoPP members.

November Packaging World/IoPP Professional Perspective focused on broadening your skill sets
IoPP
A recent informal IoPP member poll sheds light on one challenge at consumer goods companies: Though they're carefully applying marketplace research to package development, many have not assessed where and how their packages might affect their operations and the bottom line. Our poll, though unscientific and small in sample size, does suggest a revealing snapshot of inadequate communication and understanding between packaging functions. In the November edition of Packaging World's Professional Perspective, Jim George, IoPP director of education, takes a close look at broadening the skill sets of the packaging professional.
