Food and beverage driving global green packaging market

With increasing demand from the food and beverage industry, the global green packaging market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.84 percent from 2014-2019, says research firm TechNavio in its new report. TechNavio defines green packaging as packaging produced from sustainable, renewable and recyclable raw materials.
US beer label formats determined by product's ingredients

Surprisingly, required information on labels of beer sold in the U.S. depends on what ingredients are used to make the beer, not the alcohol level. Beers that meet the definition of "malt beverages" are subject to one set of federal labeling regulations, while beers made from substitutes for malted barley (that is, sorghum, rice or wheat) and beers made without hops are subject to a different set of regulations.

2015 IoPP Salary Survey results are in

This year's Salary Survey addressed how today's economy impacts your career and how you feel your job has evolved (or not) during the past year. Notable findings include: 72 percent of survey respondents saw their compensation increase in 2014, 71 percent of survey respondents felt secure in their jobs, 14 percent of survey respondents reported a job change in 2014 and IoPP Certified Packaging Professionals earned more money in 2014 than their non-certified packaging peers.

IoPP is pleased to offer six academic scholarships to exceptional students headed for careers in the packaging field. Through PepsiCo R&D, the Contract Packaging Association and IoPP Benefactor, Chapter and Technical Committee support, these scholarships have been created to elevate packaging education by raising awareness of packaging as a career choice. As an added bonus, the talent identified through this program will be shared with IoPP Benefactor companies as a recruiting tool for their organizations. This could be that post-graduation foot in the door that jump-starts careers! Applications are now being accepted.

Study proves consumers have strong feelings for soft textures on packaging

Planning for a new national medical device surveillance system

Medical devices — and the patients who use them — would substantially benefit from a National Medical Device Postmarket Surveillance System, charges a new report. The report comes nearly three years after FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health published what it said was an "action plan" meant to improve how the U.S. tracked device safety and efficacy prior to approval.
