One is that although C-R packaging has been federally mandated since the 1970s, the supplier industry is not static and new designs regularly appear. Another is that companies whose products don't fall under the federal mandates nonetheless are free to voluntarily use C-R packaging.

IoPP Benefactor Sealed Air survey reveals how e-commerce impacts retail packaging
IoPP
With continued growth in e-Commerce, retailers need to take a closer look at their packaging for fulfilling online orders, according to new data from the Sealed Air 2014 Packaging for e-Commerce Success survey, conducted online by Harris Poll on behalf of Sealed Air. Packaging not only tells consumers how much a retailer cares about them and the environment, but it's also critical for protection of retailer reputations. In fact, 58 percent of Americans say that if they receive a damaged or broken product from an online order, they would either consider purchasing from a competitor or would not purchase from that retailer again. The survey was conducted in August among over 2,000 U.S. adults (aged 18+).

Capri Sun criticized for environmentally harmful packaging
The Huffington Post
Capri Sun has been a lunchtime staple for millions of kids since it was introduced in 1981, so it would be understandable for anyone under the age of, say, 45, to have unreservedly positive associations with the juice and its trademark metallic pouches. Research shows that consumers spend on average three seconds eyeing a product on store shelves before deciding whether to purchase — sometimes referred to as the first moment of truth. Notice a sustainable packaging difference
Packaging Digest
What's the best way to reduce confusion and increase recycling rates for packaging? According to Eco-Insights blogger Robert Lilienfeld, we should start by leveling the playing field between national and store brands. There are three sets of products pictured.
