IoPP-AIP partnership elevates Certified Packaging Professional to an internationally recognized mark of individual packaging competency
IoPP
The Certified Packaging Professional designation will become the leading mark of excellence internationally and a must-have recognition of industry proficiency and achievement for packaging professionals under a new partnership announced by IoPP in the U.S. and the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP). IoPP and AIP will mutually recognize CPP as the gold standard of broad packaging proficiency under a program in which AIP members will join qualifying IoPP members as being eligible for certification. CPP is a designation some of the leading packaging companies in the world want their influential team members to have because it demonstrates broad competency in all major areas of packaging.

IoPP, Juice Products Association announce training partnership
IoPP
Juice Products Association members will be able to enroll in IoPP's Fundamentals of Packaging Technology and Packaging360 Leadership online courses from a special portal and at discount pricing under a partnership agreement with IoPP. The agreement provides JPA members access to complete courses, individual lessons and lesson bundles. CPPs make huge impact at HealthPack 2015

IoPP Certified Packaging Professionals were well-represented on the podium at HealthPack March 3-5 in Norfolk, Virginia. HealthPack is the leading annual U.S. conference for the medical device packaging industry. Brian Farison, CPP, Manager, Execution Excellence at Ethicon Endo-Surgery, delivered the keynote address "How to Avoid 'Mathematical Malpractice' in Sealing Process Validations." Jennifer Goff, CPP, Associate Manager, Packaging R&D at Stryker Instruments, talked on the topic "Medical Device Packaging's Story Told Through Design Control." John Derek Thompson, CPP, Lead Sterile Packaging Operations Engineer at DePuy Synthes, discussed "Controlled Environments and Sterile Packaging: From Concept to Compliance." Jennifer Griffin, CPP, Principal Packaging Engineer at Medtronic Vascular, led a panel of OR nurses and technicians and then a Q&A session with attendees as they reviewed new medical device packages.

IoPP Scholarship Fund is open until April 10
IoPP
IoPP is pleased to offer six academic scholarships to exceptional students headed for careers in the packaging field. Through PepsiCo R&D, the Contract Packaging Association and IoPP Benefactor, Chapter and Technical Committee support, these scholarships have been created to elevate packaging education by raising awareness of packaging as a career choice. As an added bonus, the talent identified through this program will be shared with IoPP Benefactor companies as a recruiting tool for their organizations. This could be that post-graduation foot in the door that jump-starts careers! Applications are now being accepted.

Fundamentals face-to-face classes in June, July
IoPP
If you prefer face-to-face training with your peers, Fundamentals of Packaging Technology in-person classes are drawing near! Semesters 1-2 will be June 15-19 and Semesters 3-4 are scheduled for July 27-31. All classes will be in suburban Chicago, with plenty of package samples and discussion with IoPP's certified instructors. If you plan to attend, register soon, as these will be the only face-to-face Fundamentals sessions in 2015, and space is limited. IoPP members qualify for discounts on the course fees. View the course outline. Register for individual semesters, in any order, or the complete course. ISTA's 2015 TransPack Forum includes e-commerce segment

The ISTA TransPack Forum, taking place April 7-10 at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts in Orlando, Florida, includes an afternoon dedicated to e-commerce. The special sustainability segment and panel discussion from the 2014 TransPack Forum were a big success. This year's special segment will focus on the evolving E-Commerce supply chain and its impact on packaging. The presentations will provide insight on E-Commerce packaging from the perspective of manufacturers, CPGs, retailers, carriers and test laboratories and will culminate in a panel discussion with questions from the audience. FDA's pharmaceutical quality focus continues to expand globally

Going back to the early 1980s when deaths from tainted Tylenol capsules led to the Federal Anti-Tampering Act to the New England Compounding Center crisis, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has and continues to address health issues.
